I thought it was a poorly conceived idea. Today I think we've gotta look forward and see what can we make out of a bad situation. I don't think there are great options there. I don't even think there are good options. I think there are bad and worse options. I believe that if we begin a phased withdrawal, it starts putting pressure on the Iraq government to come together around political accommodations. There is no military solution when we have sectarian warfare of the sort you're seeing right now. Um, there are risks involved in whatever course we take. Uh, and I think all of us have responsibility to the Iraqi people but the course we're taking right now is not working.
