Why The Debate About Torture?
- We have news personalities dropping the F-bomb.
- We have government officials calling for the prosecution of their predecessors.
- We have throngs of useful idiots debating the definition of the word torture.
Step back from the edge for a moment, folks. Ask yourself: why the debate about torture?
If Obama sought justice -- if he really wanted to prosecute the Bush administration, he would conduct an investigation in secret. That's the only way to protect evidence and prevent interference. That's why police do it. That's why Obama would do it.
Instead, he releases a few CIA memos and airs his concerns with the entire world. He is not interested in prosecution. He's not interested in seeking justice. He's only interested in scoring cheap political points.
Obama has released information about the war on terror for his own personal gain.
Here we are, in the midst of an internet-wide debate about whether waterboarding is torture. Obama sits in the White House admiring his handiwork with an eye towards 2010. In the meantime, our enemies watch and listen. Carefully. Picking up bits and pieces of information that Obama leaves them. Preparing for the next attack.
Who will be killed in the next attack? Who knows? It might just be me...but then, maybe it's you.
