Socialism Is Bad, Capitalism Good
Rasmussen has released a poll finding...
Let's review why socialism is bad and capitalism is good. First the definition.
Socialism is a form of government where the state owns the means of production.
In a socialist system, the state owns manufacturing of everything. The creation of food, medicine, and cars are all owned by government. Private property is prohibited.
Instead of receiving a paycheck for the work you do, government gives you everything it thinks you need: government housing, a government automobile, and even government food. If you are dissatisfied with the products the government provides, tough luck. Even if you wanted to purchase better goods or services, you couldn't. You don't have a paycheck, remember?
Picture yourself working in a state-owned factory. If you work hard and improve your skills, government is still going to provide you with the same crappy products. Why would anyone work harder for the same pay? You have no motivation to work hard.
On the other hand, in a capitalist system where private individuals own the means of production, you receive a paycheck based on the quality and amount of your work. The government takes very little or none of your money. You decide what to buy with your money. Do you want an iPod? An iPhone? You've got 'em! Want to by two? ...or ten? Fine! It's your money, do with it as you please.
It's easy to see that socialism concentrates all power to the government and capitalism concentrates it to you. When you have money, you can vote with your dollars. If you don't like a particular product, you can choose to buy a different one. If you think the price is too high, you can choose not to buy it. Under capitalism you are free to decide. Under socialism you are not.
Socialism is slavery.
