Nation Of Laws? Now Who's Being Naive, Kay?

Via New York Times...

While acknowledging that the recession makes the political battle more difficult, President Obama plans to begin addressing the country’s immigration system this year, including looking for a path for illegal immigrants to become legal, a senior administration official said on Wednesday.

Why do we even have laws anyway? After all, those in power pick and choose which laws they'll follow. Rather than change law through the prescribed mechanisms, they institute de facto law by not enforcing laws they don't agree with.

Our oath of office is the biggest farce since those Greek soldiers climbed inside that big wooden horse.

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.

Instead, they consolidate power by bribing voters. Politicians race to shamnestize people who have no legal right to be here. Who cares if it increases competition for jobs and drives wages down?

Bush did it. Now Obama's doin' it.

What would politicians do if we, the people employed the same pick-and-choose mentality they exercise? What if we decided we weren't going to pay taxes anymore? Most of them would be in exile, hiding from the lawless mobs that would be roaming the streets.

Instead, it's us who live in exile, hiding from the lawless mobs that roam Washington, D.C.
