Cantor Votes Present On Executive Pay Restrictions

This afternoon, House Minority Whip Eric Cantor voted "present" on a Democrat bill to institute a maximum wage.

House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.), who caused consternation in his party by voting in favor of taxing AIG executive bonuses, voted “present” Wednesday on a second bill aimed at tackling bonuses.

In a statement, Cantor said he voted present because his wife works for an institution that could be affected by the legislation. He also criticized the bill as a "misguided" intrusion by the federal government into the private sector.

Michelle Malkin asks whether I buy his explanation.

Well, Michelle, I'm glad you asked. IMHO, if Cantor were any kind of husband, he wouldn't vote present because his wife might be affected. Rather, he would vote NO because his wife might be affected.

Whichever way he feels about the issue, he robs us all of due representation by not voting.

Eric Cantor. Man or mouse?
