V Stands For Victory

That's right. I'm talking about the Victory sign. The letter V is represented by the extended, separated fingers. This gesture is an expression of Victory, as in the context of V-day; Victory Day. It's meaning is unambiguous. It's usage is not.

Which brings us to this rhetorical examination of proper and improper applications of this gesture; V stands for Victory.

What got the usage out of whack is in the 60's the symbol meant peace instead of victory :(
