Barack Obama Is A Pansy

Obama earned himself a spot on The Pansy List last night on the Jay Leno show.

Leno asks "Your thoughts on Iraq?" Obama responds:

I thought it was a poorly conceived idea.

Today I think we've gotta look forward and see what can we make out of a bad situation. I don't think there are great options there. I don't even think there are good options. I think there are bad and worse options. I believe that if we begin a phased withdrawal, it starts putting pressure on the Iraq government to come together around political accommodations.

There is no military solution when we have sectarian warfare of the sort you're seeing right now.

Um, there are risks involved in whatever course we take. Uh, and I think all of us have responsibility to the Iraqi people but the course we're taking right now is not working.

Obama is lost in pansy-land. His statements are wrong, and history bears proof.

Obama's notion that we should begin a phased withdrawal of troops to put pressure on the Iraqi government is dangerous. It's as if Harry S. Truman had told Greece and Turkey "sink or swim" instead of instituting the Truman Doctrine.

I believe that it must be the policy of the United States to support free peoples who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures.

Truman knew that if we forced fledgling democracies to fend for themselves, we would increase the risk that Communist Russia would gain a foothold in those nations. Instead, Truman called for economic and military aid for those countries, and thwarted the advance of communism in Europe.

To think we should handle the situation any differently requires one to believe other middle eastern nations have no interest in Iraq, or that we are the direct cause of violence there.

As for military solutions, he is wrong again. Just as the U.S. did during the Civil War, U.S. and Iraqi military forces must oppose any group that acts to undermine the sovereignty of Iraq. Sects, militias, what-have-you, anyone who does not work towards peace has effectively declared war on Iraq. We must not allow such groups to hinder our progress.

Mr. Obama, welcome to The Pansy List!

Words feel differently when they're viewed in stark black-and-white. When they're spoken to bright lights in front of an applauding crowd, they're soft like a pillow.

Hot Air has the video.
