Union To Taxpayers: Give Us More, Or Else!
The Engineers and Architects Association is striking at LAX today, the busiest travel day of the year.
Here's the EAA Executive Director Bob Aquino delivering orders to his troops:
So what does the union consider unfair? They're striking because the city's offer of a 5.25% increase is "unfair." According to UPI, EAA's average wage is $74,500 per year. Compare that to a city-wide average of $42,500. Apparently $78,400 from taxpayers isn't fair.
Whether or not you consider the increase reasonable, why can't government employees vote with their feet? If they're not happy with their wages, they should find work elsewhere. I'm sure engineering and architectural skills are in demand.
My response to the EAA: Let the free market work. Don't extort us taxpayers that are just trying to get home safely from spending the holidays with our families.
This is another in the long line of examples of how taxpayers are extorted for their hard earned dollars. It's the basis of an argument for the limitation of government, as these unions should not be in a position to extort taxpayers in the first place.
Officials should look to the Reagan playbook for a proper response to these extortionist's strong arm tactics.
Organized or otherwise, it's still thuggery.
