Mark Steyn: Islam By The Numbers

There's a buzz regarding the Mark Steyn vs Ralph Peters debate about the Islamification of Europe.

Mark Steyn's argument goes something like:

"Because Muslims are reproducing at a higher rate, Europe will be overrun."

If Mr. Steyn's computational world view is correct, the U.S. is already conquered by Red China, it's just a matter of time. 1.3 billion screaming Chinese, even if they reproduce at a fraction of a child per family (there's an interesting image), could flood the world with Chinese babies and take it over without firing a shot.

Mr. Steyn's argument presumes a person's beliefs are passed through heredity. While I concede there is a strong tendency for a child to inherit the beliefs of their parents, understanding that an individual can choose his own beliefs destroys the foundation of his argument. To derive a more complete equation, we should discuss rates of conversion between each major religion and socio-political belief system.

Further, his argument that Europeans will go quietly into the night of Islamofascism, presumes they will accept Sharia law without a fight. What would it take for an individual, European or otherwise, to reject their love of personal freedom and accept its antithesis?

Perhaps some will make the leap. There are lost souls in every congregation. But the vast majority will utterly reject the notion of Islam. Islam is fundamentally opposed to the tenets of western civilization; that men are created equal, that society must uphold the virtues of fairness and justice, and that we are each endowed by our creator with a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

To quote Reagan:

The Chinese live in china, not America. Muslims do live in Eurabia. Hordes of them. Your analogy is invalid and idiotic.


Muslims don't raise "infidel" children, they raise little koranimals. Apostasy carries a death sentence in islam. Those are just two of the many reasons muslims don't assimilate to european culture. Please point out the children of European muslims who chose "their own beliefs" by removing the straightjacket of islam. They must be the "youths" burning cars in Paris and shouting allahu akbar.


Europeans are already accepting sharia practices. Images of pigs are verboten in most of Britain, and many government buildings refuse to fly the Union Jack for fear of offending the peaceful muslims. In much of the European Union, muslims are allowed to practice sharia for family law. There's a long list of concessions made to sharia. Are you really ignorant of this, or just a bull-shit artist?


The Germans once went into the night of fascism, and they were a bellicose people at the time. Modern Europeans are pussies, and avoid fighting at all costs. So far, they're dutifully bending over for islam like good little dhimmies. Why you think they'll suddenly develop backbones is beyond me. How are they going to impose their will when they become a minority? Oh, wait. The 1.3 billion Chinese prove that muslims will never become a majority in Eurabia. Duh.

I know. The Euros will quote Reagan. That will fend off the conquering islamopithecine hordes. We all know how much the Euros love Old Dutch.

The analogy is perfectly valid. Red Chinese have a belief system they would like to subject Americans to...Communism.

Images of pigs and union jacks are nothing. What happens when Muslims try to enforce:

Marriage laws
  • The Muslim man who is not currently a fornicator can only marry a Muslim woman who is not currently a fornicatress or a chaste woman from the people of the book.
  • The Muslim fornicator can only marry a Muslim fornicatress.
  • The number of wives is limited to one. In times where there the population if smaller than normal, such as times of war, up to four can be taken, but only if they are treated equally and with the consent of the first wife.
  • The Muslim woman who is not currently a fornicatress can only marry a Muslim man who is not currently a fornicator.
  • The Muslim fornicatress can only marry a Muslim fornicator.
  • The woman cannot marry without the consent of her guardian. If she marries, her husband becomes her new guardian.
  • The guardian may choose a suitable partner for a virgin girl, but the girl is free to contest and has the right to say 'no'.
  • The guardian cannot marry the divorced woman or the widow if she didn't ask to be married.
  • The number of husbands is limited to one.
  • "Do not marry unless you give your wife something that is her right." It is obligatory for a man to give dowry(gift)to the woman he marries.

Divorce laws

  • A woman who wishes to be divorced needs the consent of her husband. If he consents she does not have to pay back the dowry.
  • A man who divorces a Pre-adolescent or post-menopausal women must wait three months before divorcing her to ensure that she is not pregnant.
  • Under certain circumstances (abuse, for instance), the wife may ask a judge to separate the couple.
  • If a man divorces his wife three times, he can no longer marry her again unless she marries another man and then divorces him.
  • These are guidelines; Islamic law on divorce is different depending on the school of thought.

The penalty for theft

In accordance with the Qur'an and several hadith, theft is punished by imprisonment or amputation of hands or feet, depending on the number of times it was committed and depending on the item of theft.

The penalty for adultery

In accordance with hadith, stoning to death is the penalty for married men and women who commit adultery. For unmarried men and women, the punishment prescribed in the Qur'an and hadith is 100 lashes.
